Beaches
Dorset is home to several beaches, which are perfect for sunbathing and water sports.
Bournemouth Beach offers seven miles of beautiful golden sand. Explore Bournemouth Pier and enjoy cliff-top walks, taking in the stunning views!
Weymouth Beach and Swanage Beach are very picturesque, with promenades and beach huts. Chesil Beach is 18-miles long and stretches from Portland to West Bay. It is a beautiful and natural example of a barrier beach.
Landmarks
Corfe Castle stands as ruins but is equally impressive with splendid views of Dorset’s surrounding countryside.
Lulworth Cove is an iconic cove surrounded by crystal clear waters and tall rocks. Make sure to look for the fossils embedded in them.
Durdle Door is a magnificent natural arch standing in water, next to a beautiful beach.
Cerne Abbas Giant is a 180ft high tall chalk figure that is etched on the steep slope of a hill above a village.
Things to do
Activities include watching the Premier League at AFC Bournemouth, speedway, or for water sports, try the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. There are countless opportunities for diving, windsurfing, fishing, cliff climbing, rowing, and cycling.
There is something for everyone in Dorset, whatever your age or interest. Famous attractions include Monkey World, the Tank Museum, and Kingston Lacy House. The area is also home to around 600 pubs.
Dorset has a vibrant nightlife. Bournemouth has an abundance of nightclubs, whilst you can enjoy music events and shows at a range of venues, such as the Bournemouth International Centre, the 02 Academy, and The Lighthouse in Poole.
